ASUS VIVO BOOK 17 X705U Laptop

The case of the VivoBook X705U is made of plastic with two different designs, the cover is “Star Grey” (grey) with a circular textured effect and the interior is silver with a smooth brushed effect vertically. The PC is also available in “Pearl White”. The build quality is good with no apparent defects. With an optimized weight of 2.1 kg, it is lighter than the average 17 inch, and even if its silhouette does not do better than its competitors, the fairly thin borders around the screen make it seem more compact than it actually isn’t.

Technical Characteristics

• Maintenance is logically possible on the Asus VivoBook X705U but the tester was unable to open the lower cover, which was certainly held in place by internal hooks.
• Connectivity is also quite limited. A USB Type-C port is present and alongside three other USB ports including 1 single USB 3.0 port. An HDMI output, an Ethernet port and an SD card reader (slow) are also provided. On the other hand, the Wifi may be of the latest generation (802.11 AC), but its transfer rates are mediocre.
• The PC has a chiclet-type keyboard with a numeric keypad and a clickpad (touchpad with integrated mouse buttons). Considering the size of the base, the keyboard seems shrunken in comparison. The result is keys that are quite small in favor of fast typing but which can hinder typing with large fingers. The keyboard is not backlit on this model but it is an option that is available on other versions. The touchpad is comfortable and lets your fingers slide easily with good support for multitouch gestures. Mouse buttons are precise with a straightforward action point.
